Author Ashley St. Clair has made an allegation that she gave birth to Elon Musk’s thirteenth child five months ago.

On Friday, Feb. 14, St. Clair, 32, made the announcement publicly on X (formerly Twitter) that she and Musk, 53, have a child together.

“I had a new baby five months ago. The father is Elon Musk,” she said. “I hadn’t previously spoken out in order to protect the privacy and security of our child, but in recent days, it has been apparent that the tabloid media plans to do so, whatever the damage that will be done.”

St. Clair highlighted her need to protect their child from the spotlight. “I want to let our child grow up in a normal and secure environment,” she continued. “For that reason, I respectfully request that the media respect our child’s privacy and not indulge in intrusive reporting.”

Her update was accompanied by the Latin caption “Alea Iacta Est,” which translates to “The die is cast.”

St. Clair, a vocal conservative, is perhaps most famous for her children’s book Elephants Are Not Birds, which is published by BRAVE Books.

As described by its synopsis, the book takes a character by the name of Kevin through an experience in which “he learns that although he can sing, he is not a bird, even if Culture says that he is.” The website for BRAVE Books portrays its mission as a collaboration with individuals of “moral integrity” to instill “Christian and Conservative values.”

Musk’s Growing Family

If true, St. Clair’s assertion would make this Musk’s thirteenth known child.

The billionaire became a father for the first time in 2002 when he and his then-wife, Canadian writer Justine Wilson, had their son Nevada Alexander, who died at 10 weeks old. The couple went on to have five more children: twins Vivian and Griffin, now 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, now 18.

Musk fathered three children with musician Grimes: X Æ A-12, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno Mechanicus. Also, in 2021, he welcomed twins Strider and Azure secretly with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. The couple is said to have given birth to another child in early 2024, though not named.

Musk has yet to make a public statement regarding St. Clair’s assertion.
